Lakeside Women’s Retreat
Aug. 18 – 20, 2024
Bread of Life – Spirit Fed, Rev. Dr. Cathy Hall Stengel
Bread Time Stories and More – Dr. Chet Fery
Through small group discussions, worship, and reflection time, Rev. Dr. Cathy Hall Stengel will guide you in exploring ways to refresh your soul with the theme, “Bread of Life – Spirit Fed”.
Dr. Chet Fery will offer a hands-on activity for the new and experienced bread maker. Learn the essentials of bread making, get your hands in the dough and experience the “Bread Makers Moment”. Participants will make bread, bake bread and create a personal bread story. This is an opportunity to have your bread making questions answered, share a favorite recipe and/or show off your favorite apron. Will start with flour, yeast, salt and water, then explore the bread making secrets that make each loaf unique and memorable. Be prepared for flour, fun, and great flavor!
Invite a friend or relative to share this time as you make new friends, worship, explore Asbury’s sacred grounds, and create together.
From Rev. Dr. Cathy Hall Stengel: My ministry life began with retreats just like this one, here at Camp Asbury. As a new college student at Geneseo I found my way into God’s calling on my life and into the United Methodist Church. For more than 40 years I have led churches, pastors and districts in gratitude and love. Making bread has been foundational in my love for the sacrament of Holy Communion and all those we feed and nurture.
From Dr. Chet Fery: a former educator, and the founder of Bread Time Stories and More, an effort that promotes random acts of kindness. Often called the Bread Man, I have baked and given away over 130,000 loaves of bread and have presented to groups of all ages for over 22 years.

What is Tiered Pricing?
Summer camp has great value in the life of a child. Genuine community is experienced, ministry to the whole person takes place, relationships are built with God and others, memories and major life commitments are made, and tomorrow’s leaders are developed today. UNYAC Camps are also a great value! We are proud to say that all of our camp programs are priced under the industry average price of $710.00. And now, our brand new Tiered Pricing is intended to help families recognize how much a week at camp costs and then select the level of payment that is most appropriate for their circumstances. Each family may freely choose to participate at the Tier 1, Tier 2, or Tier 3 level; and every child will receive the same camp experience regardless of the level chosen.
How it Works
Tier 1 : TRUE COST OF CAMP
For families who are blessed to be able to pay Tier 1 pricing, this level constitutes the true cost of camp including all aspects of maintaining facilities in good condition, insurance, utilities, etc.
Tier 2 : DIRECT COST OF CAMP
Electing to pay the Tier 2 price helps cover the direct cost of a week of summer camp including program costs, food, summer staff and camp administration.
Tier 3 : PARTIALLY SUBSIDIZED COST
Every effort is made to keep the cost of camp as affordable as possible. At this level, every camper’s fee is partially subsidized by generous donations to the CRM and each sites Scholarship Fund. Additional scholarships are also available to help make the cost of camp affordable for those who have a true financial need.

Full balances are due for any cancellation within three (3) weeks of the start of the session without documented reasons mentioned above. There is no refund once camp starts. There is no fee adjustment if a camper arrives late or leaves early.
