Mike grew up in Corning, NY, has a B.A. in Elementary Education from Bluffton College, and taught for six years. He is certified in Camp/Retreat Ministries in The United Methodist Church and has over 26 years of camp leadership experience. He and his wife, Kari, make their home at Casowasco with their children, Ethan and Sydney. Kari, a former staff member, volunteers as the Casowasco store manager. They both grew up attending camp at Casowasco and at Aldersgate, and Kari's grandparents directed Aldersgate.
Originally from the small Western New York village of Warsaw, NY, Joan moved to Syracuse to attend Central City Business Institute upon graduation from high school. She has been involved in the administrative side of Camp & Retreat Ministries for 20 years. Joan has three grown children and five grandchildren.
Betsy grew up in Gouverneur, NY and has a degree from Houghton College. She has been a camper at Aldersgate for over 30 years, served 6 years on summer staff, was interim assistant director and CRM program director, and served in a volunteer role for CRM for many years. She brings 8 years of experience in medical reception and administration. She also teaches swim lessons at the local YMCA and helps lead the nursery care at her church.
Donna is originally from the island of Guam. She has a degree in health care administration and has worked in a variety of settings over time, including a TV station, insurance company, and a medical clinic. Donna has four sons and two daughters.
John grew up in Savona, NY. He has worked in a variety of restaurants and food service establishments over the past few decades. When not at Casowasco, John enjoys spending time swimming, fishing, and playing with his daughter.
Shari was raised in Philadelphia, N.Y. and attended Aldersgate as a camper in the mid-1970s. In 1983, she was asked to serve as a counselor for junior high camp and has been involved in camping ministries ever since. Over the past 30 years, she has served as a camp counselor, local church camping agent, on the leadership team for Family Life Weekend and has helped with seasonal office work. Shari is married with 4 children, Ben (Danielle), Samuel, Autumn (Paul), and Hannah; and she has 6 grandchildren.
Sue is a Deacon in The United Methodist Church and has been serving in churches and youth ministries for over 20 years. Sue is a long time volunteer and supporter of Asbury and joined the staff full time in 2011. Sue has previously served Asbury as the Guest Services Coordinator and Assistant Director. Sue is married to Allen, and they have two children Jacob and Allison.
Naomi is a graduate of Roberts Wesleyan College with a degree in Religion and Philosophy. She has program experience with Infuzion Team Ministry where she was a part of a team bringing a retreat weekend on the road to different places. She joined the Asbury team in 2017 with experience from Skye Farm Camp & Retreat Center as a Ministry Assistant.
Matt has been with Sky Lake full time since 2000. His hobbies include music, photography, traveling, and the study of Canada. Besides the song “Harvey the Hippo”, Matt’s favorite thing about Sky Lake is the contemplative moments spent around campfires.
Jenna has been with Sky Lake since 2011, but has over ten years of experience at our sibling site — Casowasco. She enjoys puzzles, cross-stitching, reading, and sailing. Jenna ranks taking hikes around the lake as one of her favorite things about Sky Lake.
Ryan comes to Skye Farm with a rich history of Camp & Retreat Ministries, having grown through the Iowa CRM and seasonal work at our very own Aldersgate a decade ago. Ryan, his wife Amanda, and their four children, Grace, Noah, Tobias, and Micah live on the grounds and are all a part of the ministry.
